Caroll Thompson is an Audit Manager at Gibson LeClair, LLC. Caroll is actively involved in audits, reviews, compilations, and other services for nonprofit organizations. She joined Gibson LeClair LLC in March 2019.
She came to us from the State of Maine where she was a Principal Auditor with the Maine Office of the State Auditor. As a Principal Auditor, Caroll audited the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the State of Maine. She also participated in the Single Audit under the Uniform Guidelines.
Prior to working for the Office of the State Auditor, Caroll worked as the Social Services Audit Manager in the Maine DHHS Division of Audit. While there, Caroll lead a team of six auditors with oversight responsibilities for over 400 Community Agencies receiving State and Federal funds from the Maine DHHS. Caroll was the principal author of the Maine Uniform Accounting and Auditing Practices for Community Agencies (MAAP IV) adopted by the State of Maine in May 2012.
Prior to her service with the State of Maine, Caroll worked in public accounting for local firms in Maine, Montana, and Idaho for over 20 years. She also worked as the Chief Financial Officer for the Aroostook Band of Micmacs. Caroll received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Montana in Business Administration and Accounting.
She is a lifetime member of Beta Gamma Sigma, having graduated in the top five percent of her class. Prior to college, Caroll served in the U.S. Navy. In her spare time, Caroll likes to read and spend time with family.
