Steve LeClair is one of the founding partners of Gibson LeClair, LLC. He is the firm's audit partner and oversees the firm's quality control and peer review programs. Steve is actively involved in audits, reviews and other services for nonprofit organizations. He is a member of:
- The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
- The Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants
Steve received his bachelor's degree from Husson University. Steve's prior employment history includes working for the State of Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division of Audit as an audit supervisor, where he gained extensive experience in audits of nonprofit and State agencies. In addition to the four years Steve spent within State government, he also held a financial management position with a community action agency for seven years, as well as a position as controller with a private, for-profit corporation for four years. Steve has worked continuously on nonprofit and community action agency financial and compliance audits. He also has extensive experience in the preparation of annual MaineCare and PNMI Cost Reports required by the State of Maine, and has assisted clients on appeals and resolutions with the State DHHS Division of Audit. His accounting and audit experience, training and professional education enables Steve to understand the audit requirements for any type of nonprofit engagement.
Steve also served as Chair of the State of Maine MAAP Appeals Board, and he also continues to serve as a committee member on the MAAP Advisory Board. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Board of Directors of Home Care for Maine, and has also served as a past Chair and Treasurer of that Organization.
