Nonprofit Audit

At Gibson LeClair, LLC our philosophy is to provide timely and efficient audit services by staffing the engagement with experienced and knowledgeable professionals. In most cases, the staff assigned to your audit will not change from year to year. We provide audit services to approximately fifty nonprofit agencies ranging in size from small associations with one or two employees to major entities with 400+ employees and annual revenues of $50 million. As part of many of our nonprofit engagements, we have substantial involvement auditing a wide variety of Federal and State grant programs. We understand the audit requirements of Government Auditing Standards, OMB Circular A-133 and Maine Uniform Accounting and Auditing Practices for Community Agencies and are able to develop audit approaches and plans that are cost effective and efficient while meeting the requirements of Federal and State agencies.

Our size allows us to develop close working relationships with our clients. One of the distinguishing hallmarks of our firm is the immediate access our clients have to our staff during the audit and throughout the year. Our staff is experienced and knowledgeable professionals who are familiar with the missions of our clients. We make every effort to be clear in communications of our expectations of financial and grant compliance information, availability of personnel and other audit documentation.

Our goal is to provide quality service to our clients at a reasonable cost. We are sensitive to the fact that for our nonprofit clients, money spent on audit and accounting fees is money that isn't spent in providing services to accomplish the organization's mission. We frequently provide feedback to our clients with opportunities for making the audit process more efficient. As an added benefit, we frequently host free informal training sessions for our clients on topics such as tax compliance, data collection processes, and required public disclosure of financial information.
